The Preen 5 Year Residential Landscape Fabric offers a chemical free solution to weed prevention by not allowing the seeds already in the soil to germinate. The Preen Landscape Fabric actually prevents the sunlight from penetrating the soil to germinate the seeds already in the soil that were there from previous years of weeds. This reduces the need for hand weeding, but a Preen Pre-Emergent should be used in conjunction with any use to prevent any additional seed from blowing in the mulch and thus germinating. Preen Landscape Fabric also helps maintain moisture in the soil.
